Glossop SNT - 'Operation Spotlight' - The National Community Speed Watch 'All Out Day'
National Community Speed Watch (CSW) Day—often referred to as an "All Out Day"—is a synchronized, nationwide volunteer-led initiative where local residents, supported by police forces, monitor traffic speeds and educate drivers in their neighborhoods. The event typically takes place In July, with today Wednesday 15th July as the chosen day, with activities occurring throughout the UK.
During the event, trained volunteers use handheld speed detection devices in 30mph or 40mph zones to track vehicles. Registration details of speeding vehicles are recorded and sent to the police, who then mail warning letters to the registered keepers, detailing the risks of their dangerous driving. The primary goal is to educate motorists, deter speeding in residential areas, and build safer communities.
As part of the National Community Speed Watch ‘All Out Day’ PCSO Buller and 3 volunteers from the Hadfield Community Speed Watch team completed an event at Woolleybridge Rd, Hadfield this afternoon, Wednesday 15th July - held between 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm.
The speed limit on this road is 30 mph. During the event the today the number of vehicles who drove passed the team was 411 and of those 21 were recorded driving above 35 mph.
This location had been identified by local councillors and residents from Hadfield as one of their Policing priorities for this area, which is speeding. Glossop SNT would like to say thank you to the community in Hadfield for their continued support in promoting road safety within Hadfield and the surrounding areas..
Lastly a big thank you and well done from Glossop SNT to the 3 volunteers, who without their time and efforts we would have be unable to complete this event today.
